Sr. Firmware Engineer

Senior Firmware Engineer role with Sanctuary Computer, a worker-owned creative collective. Responsibilities include owning firmware architecture decisions across product platforms, bringing up new hardware revisions, monitoring deployed firmware, designing wireless connectivity flows (pairing, OTA, reconnect logic), integrating sensors and communication modules, participating in code reviews, tracking project scope and risk, and communicating directly with clients. Requirements: Production C/C++ expertise at register level with memory layout and interrupt handling ownership; shipped embedded firmware through DVT to mass production; independent hardware bring-up (bootloader, BSP, device tree, peripheral drivers); deep RTOS fluency (FreeRTOS preferred) with scheduling and debugging experience; full debug cycle capability including schematic reading and lab instruments; low-level bus protocol fluency (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO); self-management and client-facing communication skills. Nice-to-have: ESP32 at IDF level, wireless stack ownership, Linux embedded depth (Yocto/Buildroot), display pipeline integration, cloud connectivity (MQTT, AWS IoT), product management instincts, startup/agency environment experience. Compensation: $150k-$200k/year contract basis. USA-based preferred but not required.
